1230 14th Street Environmental Contamination and Blight

1230 14th Street is the site of a former Shell gas station that was in operation from 1958 to 1993. Petroleum hydrocarbons and other chemicals were discovered in the site's soil in February, 1991. Remediation is still not complete after 29 years.

In addition to our concern for the environmental safety of our neighbors, the property has been a continuous source of blight and neglect.

Stakeholders in the site include owner Andy Saberi of Sabek, Inc, his contractor Pangea Environmental Services, the Alameda County Department of Environmental Health, and the California State Water Resources Control Board.

GET INVOLVED

  1. File a SeeClickFix ticket for blight issues that you see. Follow up with Wing Loo in the Oakland Department of Code Enforcement.

  2. Attend an OCNA meeting or get in touch with OCNA officers to discuss how to support environmental remediation efforts.
